DC Day 1

We had a blast with Cambrey, Joe, Adam and Zachary on our first day in DC!

First we hit up a renowned eatery... Then we were off to the Smithsonian...And, we saw MY necklace on display! :)After a short rest at the fountain...we were off to the monuments and memorials...
And, of course, G fell in the reflection pool! What else would be expected from this one?Oh, G...He is something else! I cannot wait for the rest of the trip!

Hittin' the Road

Bright and early the day after the wedding we hit the road...and when I say early, I mean 5 in the morning when we were not home from the wedding until after 1 and I still had PACKING to do before I went to sleep!

Nonetheless, hit the road bright and early...

Funny thing about us when we are driving with 6 kids and 2 dogs, we make LOTS of stops! Before noon we had stopped at Buckee's for Eric to buy a hat he has been wanting for months (Yes, he is a weirdo!)...here at Caddo Lake...
where the boys proceeded to wrestle...and here - in Jefferson - where my Grandaddy, Grandmommy, and others are buried. Is is weird to say that I was really excited that we were able to go to their graves? I really want my children to know their families (all of it), and there is a big part of my heritage and a huge part of my heart there that I pray my children come to appreciate.

We then met up with Cambrey, Joe, and the cousins and began the long journey north...Yes, we did stop several more times!
because it seems that Ballerina has to eat every 30 minutes!
And the rest of the clan did not mind the time out of the car either!

We were blessed that Joe was able to get an awesome room in Nashville for us the first night one the road, and just a short day later (and a million times of being asked how much longer until we get there) we were in DC! Yea!

Well, we are in DC now, so there will be more to come, but I just thought that I would give all an update!

Smiles!

The Rehearsal

The wedding festivities began on Friday!

We were able to be there for the rehearsal where, of course, my children were far more amused with playing than rehearsing anything.Yes...they were throwing crickets on each other. What else would you expect from boys? And, when I explained that this was probably not appropriate behavior, this is what I got...So, Ballerina decides to move on to the groom...He will let her do anything! But, we did do some rehearsing...
We all had an awesome dinner! And, the kids LOVED the fat that the waiters threw bread at them! But, perhaps my favorite part of the rehearsal dinner was the crasher that appeared! What are the odds of this!?!?!?!? I LOVE it! Datra, the fact that you and Paul were there beings me the greatest JOY! When I think about it I just laugh! Ha!

Then there was the honoring of the wedding party and the exchanging of the gifts... It was a GREAT evening, and I cannot wait until tonight!
