20 years ago Eric was a part of a team that made history.
He and his high school football team were state champions, and in Texas, where high school football reigns, this is a pretty BIG deal. Assuredly, it was a feat of which to be proud and a moment in your life not ever to be forgotten...even after 20 years.
Thus, it was appropriate that this group of now "old" men be honored...
They were recognized at half-time. (And then at a party afterwards!)
Each one was called by name.
Their coach was there! (But, we see him all the time! Yea!)
I was so proud of him. (Not that I am not always...)
But, these 3 were far more proud that evening. Their daddy did something they dream of doing. I had to laugh...they were SO intrigued and wanted to be a part of every part of the evening. On the way to the car they asked Eric if that game was the "coolest thing that had ever happened to him." He laughed and said, "No way boys...The 6 coolest things that have ever happened to me are walking right beside me right now."
