His Powerful Punches

For over a year G has had a list of things he wanted to do once he "grew up." He wants to play on a "real soccer team," go to a school that is not a preschool, ride a school bus, color with permanent markers, and go to VBS...

This last week he checked one thing off his list.

VBS kicked-off last Monday.

Eric and I were super disappointed that we were not able to volunteer to work it because we are both working summer school, but we made every concession we could to be sure that G was able to attend!

All week long G sang about the power of the Lord...

"He's powerful..." (some hand motions that looked like punching accompanied the screaming of this beginning verse)

At first I would get onto him for the "fake punching" that he was doing, but when I was correcting him one time he said, "But, mom God is more powerful than I am punching...He can punch real hard...got it?"

While I still had a talk with him about "talking back" to Mommy, I also listened to his words.

The Lord IS powerful, and sometimes He DOES punch you...

And, sometimes he punches you over and over before you finally get the message. Sometimes he is forced to punch you to the ground before you finally listen. His punches often hurt like hell, and his punches are never easy to take.

But, there are times He needs to punch me...to remind me of His greatness, His mercy, His glory...and most of all of His power.

On Thursday we celebrated an incredible week of VBS, spent some awesome time eating ice cream and were in amazement of His power that a 4-year-old reminded us of.
