Happy Birthday to You!

It is not that we do not do parties for our kids anymore, but in the craziness of this past week, we opted to celebrate G's birthday with just our family. (We did have another sort-of birthday thing we did, but that was more of a family thing than a birthday thing!)

Nonetheless, we would never do without honoring our favorite 6-year-old on his special day!
So, we loaded up and had lunch at the finest establishment in town...McDonalds (his choosing).Birthday boy got to pick out his own drink...that is a big deal in our family. We always share. (Drinks are expensive when you are buying them for 6! Big money saver not to get them when we go out to eat...)
It was just "us." And it was good. The kids were all smiles.I love it when they have such a good time together...their smiles make me smile. So often we are in such a hustle and bustle to get to their next activity that we do not enjoy each other. It made it such a delight for them to be able to celebrate with one another and REALLY celebrate without the "drama" and stress that big "to dos" sometimes create. G got an iPod touch from Mommy and Daddy.
No, I did not think that it was a good thing to get a 6-year-old. Yes, I still do not think that it was. However, he uses them frequently in his class, had two older brothers with them, we do not have to buy games for it that can get lost...
Okay, so I am trying to convince myself that it was a good idea. Just let me live in my little bubble world! Ha!Oh, happy, happy birthday sweet boy.
You are another year older, and we are another year blessed!
