Extraordinarily Normal

Things can never just be normal in our house. They are always slightly weird...different...and even a little bit shady.

Before Eric and I were married, I SWORE 1/2 his stories were fabricated. And, if they were not completely made-up, I truly believed that he greatly embellished them on a regular basis. Yet, the longer we are married, the more I am believing...and the more I am becoming entangled in his wildly extraordinary world he perceives to be perfectly normal.

I previously wrote about him being sick this weekend...Perhaps I did not explain fully the magnitude of his ailments...

He had a high, high fever, cold sweats, chills, extreme fatigue, bizarre hallucinations (from the fever), etc. We, however, we told that it was bronchitis...thus, all was well.

That is until he woke up Wednesday morning! His face basically looked like a chipmunk that got his wisdom teeth pulled....but only on one side. It was slightly funny, but freaky too...

I am supposed to be heading to Austin for a conference early, but it is decided that he needs to immediately go to the ER before heading to work himself. In the ER we were told he had one of three ailments...mono, mumps or some funky gland issue; however, we were told that it was unlikely that he had the funky gland issue...that it was most likely mumps. Yep...mumps.

Yes, one gets an immunization against mumps...and no, Cinderella has not had hers.

I immediately began making all sorts of plans in my mind about what I would need to be doing when the family all came down ill...

Just then, we learned that it was not mumps...instead it was some bizarre gland blockage! Needless to say, we are so relieved. Why are we so weird? Better yet, why is weird to others so normal to us?

P.S. Happy birthday KK! The big 20 - you are the last of the five to leave the teens! We all love you!
