Soccer Dumb Dumb?

We have been wondering about G and his athleticism. All who know G know that he is obsessed with sports - no understatement! Yet, Eric and I have been worried that his obsessions would disappoint him when he actually began playing...that he would not be the star he views himself as being.

Thus, we have all been eagerly anticipating this evening's game...G's first soccer game.

Yet, this evening's game almost did not happen!

When I went to pick up G from school I was presented with a report (a referral of sorts) that indicted that G had called his teacher a "stupid dumb dumb." I was LIVID! Just when I thought we had moved through that name calling phase...

He knew the second the teacher handed me the form that his consequence was that he would not be allowed to go to soccer this evening; however, to my dismay he was quite accepting of this consequence. He says when I give him the stern face and inform him that we will be going straight home, "Okay Mommy, we can play with Garner at home instead."

Are you kidding me? So, I replied, "No, we will be staying in the house..."
G: "I can watch tv, and..."
I cut him off, "No, G, there will be no television or anything like that..."
Making another plan, "Okay, I can read books and help Daddy make dinner..."
What? NO! This is a consequence...not find something else to divert the intent!

So, after some discussion with Daddy, it was decided we WOULD go to the soccer game, but that he would not be allowed to play. Instead, he would have to sit there and watch all of his friends.

Oh, and this was an amazing decision! It was TORTURE for him to have to sit and watch! It was one of our finer parenting moments. In fact, it was so tortorous that we decided to let the poor boy play the second 1/2 of the game.

Suckers...

But G WAS the superstar of the game! He scored 9 goals in less than 10 minutes of play! At one point the coaches said he had to play goalie to "give the others a chance!" But he blocked all of the goals and punted the ball out of the goal passed midfield! No surprise...Ballerina could have cared less about anything that was happening on the soccer field! She just kept running away to the playground!

Stamped Out!

Leave a 15-month-old alone for 10 minutes...then let her brother intervene for 5...and this is what happens!

Just so you know...these stamps do not just wash off, so I will be sending them to school looking like this tomorrow...

Enough said.

End of Season Baseball Game

G's little baseball season ended with a "big game!" It was hilarious to see the 3-year-olds in a game situation!

G, however, we quite perturbed with the game. In his words, "I did not know we were going to have a game for babies!" He was incredibly annoyed that they were hitting the ball off the tee and every batter got a home run...even if they were able to get him out!

We have at least 2 more years of t-ball! What am I going to do with him? While G played, Ballerina played peek-a-boo around a tree with Daddy! She thought this was the funniest game in the entire world!

Some Moments with G

Last week at Wal-Mart at 6:45 a.m.: As a part of our morning routine we get dressed at Eric's school, and it was then (a little after 6) that we discover that we must have dropped G's underwear and socks on our way out of the house. This is our second trip to Wal-Mart of the morning, so I am in fine mood...the first time we realize that Eric and I had switched backpacks and I was missing my wallet. I put G in the basket and turned around to unbuckle Ballerina. While I am messing with her seat belt he announces to the entire parking lot that he needs to "go pee!" I do not acknowledge his request and continue to unbuckle Ballerina. You can imagine my surprise when I turn around to see him on his tip toes, pants at his bare feet peeing out the back of the cart!

Tuesday: Ballerina and Gunnar really like it when I make peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Knowing their popularity and how much G likes both peanut butter and banana I assume that he too will like the sandwich! Fair assumption? When I pick him up from school he goes to put his lunchbox in the back of the car and as he throws it in he says, "Wow Mom! That sandwich you made today was HORRIBLE!" I giggle and say sorry. With the look that I am an idiot..."Let me just tell you...bananas do not belong on bread!"

Tonight: He is in the middle of telling a second lie about Eric's wallet..."Well, before I talk, can you tell me if you REALLY get those bumps in your mouth if you lie?"

Happy Birthday GiGi

October is a hoppin' month of happy events in our family! Not only is it Gunnar's birthday, but my Mom and Dad also celebrate their anniversary.

And...Gigi has a birthday!

Today is Gigi's birthday, and in honor of her birthday, I asked the kids on our way to school to tell me some of their favorite things about Gigi, and this is what they said...

-"Uh, I like that we go to Chuckie Cheese...We are going to go this weekend." (I just thought I would share his plans.)
-"I like when we have sleepovers at the lake and we get to have chocolate milk. I can have lots of chocolate milk...Gigi said I can." I said, "She did?" And he replies, "Yea, and I think I am going to stay tonight...Mommy, can you take me there tonight?" (I will drop him off at 6!)
-"Oh, yea, I like that we get to have Aggie stuff and play football on Aggie days."
-"Yea, sometimes we get to have sleepovers at our house, but Balerina wakes up too much and my cousins...They do not sleep when it is a sleepover."
-"I like her necklace...It is pretty." (I am uncertain what necklace he is referring to, but I like it too! In fact, I think Gigi should give it to me. He!)
-"I like her birthday so we can make cake...I think Gigi likes chocolate cake and to go to Bounce. Are we going to go there tonight? I think Gigi wants to have her party at Bounce. I am going to make the invitations...Garner said he will come...and Vincent..." (Get ready! All of th 3-year-olds are ready to party!)

Well, as I recall the things they said they loved about Gigi, I think they are fairly selfish. Nonetheless, we all DO wish hope you have the happiest birthday!

So, this is not quite a birthday picture, but it is my newest favorite picture of my parents! :)

Gunnar's Birthday Part II

For the second part of Gunnar's 8th birthday, we had dinner as one BIG family at GattiTown! It makes me so happy when we are all able to do things together...because I know how happy it makes the kids. Especially G! He LOVES it the most!

While GattiTown is never my first choice of an evening out, we did have a great time... :)
